Tagset
Nominations:
Nominating is how you designate fandoms, relationships and characters who can be requested and offered in the excange. You nominate by filling out the form linked from the tagset during the nominations period. I will accept all eligible, correctly formatted nominations.
You may nominate up to 10 fandoms with up to 20 relationships each. Single character nominations should be in the format "Solo: Character." Disambiguation (putting the fandom after in parantheses) is helpful but not required.
Original Work, RPF and Creator's Choice of Fandom are allowed.
Crossovers should be nominated under Crossover Fandom, in the format Character X (Fandom)/Character Y (Fandom). Disambiguation is mandatory for crossovers.
No RPF involving people famous for participating in the Nazi regime or real-life serial killers is allowed. (You may nominate Jack the Ripper as a fictional character in works he appears in.) Most recently living people famous for atrocities are also banned, including but not limited to Vladimir Putin. I reserve the right to arbitrarily add to this list. Fictionalized versions are covered by the ban. No modern person under the age of 18 may be nominated under RPF. Note that while this rule is mainly enforced at the nominations stage, attempting to circumvent it via posting the fanwork anyway will result in additional penalties.
Sign Ups:
To sign up, you fill in the sign up form on AO3 during the sign up period. You fill in requests you would like to receive a fanwork for, and offers you would like to create a fanwork for. Each request/offer includes a fandom, one or more characters or relationships, a medium selection, and one or more genre tags. You may also add prompts to your requests to give your creator more details, but these are optional. You can make up to ten requests and up to ten offers.
You may sign up with requests in just one or two fandoms, but if your creator defaults, the exchange will not be held for your gift unless you add fandoms. To be guaranteed a gift, you must request at least three different fandoms with at least one pairing/character for each.
You must offer something someone else is requesting. You can check the requests summary during sign ups to be sure. Participants who are unmatchable on offers will be contacted when sign ups close and have twenty-four hours to respond with offers they would like to add, after which their sign ups will be deleted.
You may request/offer up to 10 fandoms, with up to 20 relationships or characters each. You may request/offer the same fandom multiple times in order to choose different tag options or more pairings, but this will not count towards the minimum number of fandoms to be guaranteed a gift.
DNWs ("Do Not Wants") go in your prompts, and your creator cannot include them. They must be reasonable, non-judgmentally described and clear, and must not contradict your request. They can't be used to force your creator to make a very specific work or require them to write in a specific AU. (E.g., "DNW anything but PWP" would not be allowed, and neither would “DNW canon characterization.”) In addition, DNWs also must be in your sign up to be enforced, not only a linked letter.
Please note that under the "reasonable" criteria, you may not DNW the general presence of minorities. You may DNW changing canon characters' ethnicity, sexual orientation, gender identity, etc; this will only apply to canon characters. You may also DNW particular backstories for characters with multiple backstories (e.g., in comics canons).
If I deem your DNWs unreasonable or in conflict with your request, I may contact you and ask you to edit them, or depending on the specifics, have them go unenforced as written or your sign up removed.
Matching:
Requests are matched to offers on the basis of at least one shared combination of fandom, medium, character/relationship, and freeform. The freeform tags are limited.
Limited freeforms:
The freeforms for this exchange are: Action With Gore, Horror With Gore, Graphic Torture, Eroticized Gore, Hurt/Comfort With Gore, Angst With Gore, Character Death-Focused Work, Humor With Gore, and Other/None.
These freeforms are meant as genres to help you match with a creator/recipient interested in similar works. They ARE binding, but are intentionally broad. Eroticized Gore does not require smut, only sexual gore. Graphic Torture may include consensual torture.
If you would like to suggest an additional genre category, please feel free to do it in comments up until sign ups begin and I will consider your request.
Assignments:
Minimum: 500 words or a nice sketch on unlined paper.
Works must include significant gore content, meaning described/pictured violence, injury and/or bloodshed. Please note that while many participants do not want to see particular kinds of gore and the ratings on previous works have varied, by signing up to this exchange you are requesting graphic violent content. If you would be upset to receive a work rated Explicit for graphic violence, this exchange is not a good fit for you.
You must respect your recipient's reasonable DNWs. You must have some reason to believe your recipient could enjoy what you create. However, all participants should remember that this is a gore exchange and unrequested gore is an expected element in gifts. If there's a kind of gore you don't want to receive, DNW it.
There is no penalty for defaulting by hitting the default button. If you default, you will not be guaranteed a gift or sent out to pinch hit if your creator also defaults. No show defaults or participants who upload a placeholder or incomplete work must create a treat fulfilling some request (not necessarily their assignment) before signing up again.
In lieu of defaulting, you may ask to swap your assignment with any open pinch hit and still be guaranteed a gift.
Extensions into the first week post-deadline will be granted generously and do not require an excuse, but longer extensions will only be granted for exceptional circumstances.
Other:
The mod may be contacted via dreamwidth PM, comments on this post (publicly viewable), or email at [email protected].
Treats (extra works) are welcome. Treats gifted to a specific user must fulfill a request of theirs and respect their DNWs, but do not have to meet assignment minimums. Treats may be posted to the collection without a recipient, in which case they should be on topic for the theme of the exchange and feature a nominated tag. (This includes Creator's Choice of Fandom tags!) If you would like to receive treats, remember to check you have gifting turned on in your AO3 settings!
You must leave a comment on your gift or contact me about the reason you can't. Contacting me about a DNW violation or anything else that results in a pinch hit fulfills this requirement automatically. Otherwise, noncommentors will be banned from future rounds until they comment on their previous gift(s).
Participants should behave reasonably and in good faith at all times. I reserve the right to ban participants who do not at my sole discretion.
